Contemplative Monday Evenings - online

Nordic "højskole" - open school for life - based in Gomde Denmark, a Buddhist retreat center. The open summerschool is postponed till July 2021, instead you can join us  for contemplation, meditation og sharing online via zoom, every Monday evening.

The challenges and restrictions caused by covid-19 is not something anybody could have wished for - yet, the situation can hold new opportunities to contemplate and nourish deeper aspects of existence. In order to support this, Gomde Højskole invites you to joins us for a series of "contemplative summerschool evenings". Participation is free of charge and open to everyone interested. Anders Laugesen (Danish National Radio) and Niels Viggo Hansen (Gomde DK and Aarhus University) are hosts and facilitators.

We meet every Monday evening, and usually we have a visiting teacher apart from Niels Viggo and Anders.

Meetings usually start with a mediation, a song, and then a 15-20 minutes lecture opening an existential, scientific, artistic or cultural theme with some connection to the contemplative, usually involving contemplative explorations. Dialogues in and inquiries ("contemplative group processes") in small and big groups. All of it on the flexible meeting platform Zoom - allowing us to create small and big dialogue groups.

It is easy to join, just follow the link (see right column). The digital meeting room is opened at least 15 minutes in advance. When the meeting ends (at 9 p.m.) there is a five minutes break where you can brew a cup of coffee, and then there is an informal open space for continued sharing - divided into "coffee tables" of 6-8 people.

The project is very much to develop a new kind of interactive contemplative meeting where participants are involved in explorations and articulations. The key is "the living word", to quote the 19C Danish visionary Grundtvig who fathered the højskole / "open school for life" movement. Living word, living insight, listening to spirit streaming in individuals and communities. All of it - as long as the situation necessitates it - in a digital space, from your own armchair.

You can participate via your own laptop (best) or via ipad/iphone/smartphone. Before joining first time, it is a good idea to test that connection, webcam and microphone work, via
